At Wildwood casino at Cripple Creek, Mary McMahon of Colorado was playing the quarter slot machines June first when it became what she thought was her lucky day. She soon thought that she was a millionaire as she hit the progressive jackpot on her machine. The progressive jackpot amount of $1627.82 was flashed by the machine, but other numbers were also strangely flashed which were responsible for her thinking she had won millions.
$11,000,600 was the other numbers that were also displayed. Ms. McMahon thought she was rich.

However, when she was told that the amount displayed on the machine was only an error, her world came tumbling down. In fact all of the commotion was caused by a human error. When the machine’s jackpot was won, along with the new progressive jackpot amount, it should have displayed the amount won. On May 12th, wrong numbers were entered by someone by mistake into the machine. The machine it displayed $11,000,600 whereas it should have only displayed $600.

The amount entered into the machine for the new progressive jackpot would have to have been approved by casino staff as stated by the Colorado gaming officials. It was stated by the officials that in that type of machine, this was not possible that any of the staff members would approve an amount this large. The controller was taken for investigation by the division of gaming. In the last three months in Colorado, this is the second time that an incident such as this has happened.

Mary McMahon stated that she thinks if you win a big jackpot, you’ve won it, however they should fix the machines. At the same time she will be satisfied with winning any amount of money, she told reporters that .
